from socialism to the gospel according to the angry millions..

the concerns that dr manmohan singh, the prime minister of india, has for the poor among his countrymen can be described - at best - as corporate social responsibility..

this was the same man that AICC's fact-finding committee - headed by the present defense minister ak antony - blamed for the loss of power at the centre in 1996, for the first time since independence. now no one talks abt it.

hence, due to a queer sense of logic that history profess, it was manmohan who was responsible for the `experiment' called united front (third front), and thus also responsible for the formation called nda led by bjp.

after nda rule, though shining india campaign was tainted, the english educated urban middle class - most of them run the media, at least the english media - rooted for the continuation of the economic upsurge. thus came back mr technocrat, along with other economists like chidambaram - his junior collegue in rao cabinet - both of whom owe their return to business for nda.

the problem as i see it is that the indian middle class and the media is obsessed with the economic progress. the middle class was strongly with the lower class till the early 90s. now, we are looking up to the wealth creators as role models and not at those with higher human values. education means iits and iims. values mean the worth of any action or belief when converted in million USD terms. it is not what u r or even wt u do tht matter, but ur salary slip thtz the criterion.

democracy, friends, is only one of the better options of administration. dnt forget tht there are other grossly misused options like left/right revolutions. if tht sweeps india, ur CAT or gate score thankfully wont matter anymore.

mao said revolutions would begin in the villages and would consume the cities. wait for it, the `urchins' that u despise will tel u the new theory of survival or the gospel according to the angry millions.

to tht end, my god, let my country awake..

You are missing the point. Some things are better off simple and straightforward.

simple, yes. straightforward? i dnt knw.. i think tht as a quality is hyped beyond anyone's imagination. i'm not sayin white lies are always better but straightforwardness does not take into account the feelings of the person to whom it is addressed. may be it is somethin she/he is not bothered abt or something she/he is avoidin.. wt purpose in life do u serve by bein straightforward - especially wen it comes to somebody else's matter?

bein understated could be a better alternative..

the post is about how simpler things were when we were young and how adults complicate matters of the heart as we grow up. That's all it is, and if you didn't see that through simple verses then am sorry but u come across as the average junkie who doesn't understand lyrics as well.
